Why I Do What I Do

For nearly two decades, I worked as a physical therapist—first as an active-duty Air Force PT, then as a Reservist PT, and later as a Department of Defense contractor. Across all of those roles, I saw the same story repeat itself over and over again: military service members, first responders, and frontline professionals pushing through pain because they felt they had no other option.

Appointments were often weeks—or even months—away.
Access to care was limited while traveling, deployed, or working long shifts.
Fear of stigma or career repercussions kept people from asking for help.

I tried everything I could inside the system: walk-in clinics, direct access care, embedded programs, even leading injury-prevention workshops and performance-optimization sessions to reach more people. But no matter how hard I pushed, it was never enough.

The Moment Everything Changed

One conversation has stayed with me to this day.

During an appointment, an aircrew member looked me in the eye and said:
“Ma’am, we’re told from Day 1 of our training: don’t go to Medical.”

That was when it hit me. I had been fighting an uphill battle for years—and I finally realized just how steep that hill really was.

The frustration my patients felt was the same frustration I felt as their provider. The truth was clear: the system wasn’t built for them. And stigma—more than anything else—was keeping them from the care they needed.

Venturing Out

I knew then that I needed to do something different. To step outside the traditional system. To venture out.

That’s how Venture Out Wellness™ was born.

At its core, my mission is simple: to provide stigma-free, self-guided tools that empower military service members, first responders, and frontline professionals to troubleshoot pain, move better, feel better, and live better—on and off duty.

Why It Matters

Every day, I’m inspired by the resilience and dedication of those who serve on the frontlines. You show up for others, no matter what. My commitment is to make sure you have the tools to show up for yourself, too—without stigma, without waiting, and without being held back by pain.
